Take Heart!

Our world is a troubling place. Along with the standard human woes of sickness and conflict, we are alarmed by powerful forces with totalitarian tendencies advancing godless agendas. Like you, I look toward the future with a great deal of uncertainly, and am tempted by fear and anxiety.

But Christian friend, we can take comfort in this:

  1. Reality is on our side. Those who disregard God’s written law and deny God’s natural law are rebelling against inexorable realities woven into the fabric of God’s universe. The “progressive” worldview is inherently contradictory and will collapse upon itself. “They shall eat the fruit of their way” (Prov. 1:31). Sadly, much damage is being done in the process. By God’s grace let us be light in a dark world, courageously representing God’s truth, justice and mercy.

  2. The Good News is just as good as ever. Our generation has been taught that we are nothing more than accidental blobs of matter (Darwin) and that life is nothing more than an endless power struggle (Marx). This is why the godless religion of 2021 preaches two primary sermons: avoid sickness at all costs, and pre-judge everyone based on the slanted categories of intersectionality. How refreshing, by contrast, is the Biblical worldview! We are made in the image of God, which gives each of us dignity. We are all sinners, which should give each of us humility. We are offered the free gift of salvation in Jesus, which gives each believer forgiveness and a new pathway of love. Your neighbors may be more open than ever to hearing this wonderfully Good News.

  3. God is in control. He really is! Now is the time to believe what we say we believe about Him. “He does according to His will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth” (Dan. 4:35). He works all things together for good, for those who love Him (Rom. 8:28). “He has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness” (Acts 17:31). We are meant to know and believe these things so we can serve the Lord with joy and peace no matter what is happening around us. He will provide for your every need. He will give you strength to stand for truth in a world of lies. He will fully vindicate your faith. And even if you face the very worst that life can bring, you have a glorious eternity ahead of you. “Do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread” (Isa. 8:12). “According to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells” (2 Pet. 3:13).
